Gee Joon

Gee Joon is the highest pair in Pai Gow Tiles. It uses the 1–2 tile and the 2–4 tile.

Why it matters

The two tiles do not match visually, but together they outrank every other pair. That exception is easy to miss when you are learning from dot patterns alone.

When the tiles are separated

Each Gee Joon tile may count as either three or six. Use the value that produces the better hand. This flexibility applies to point counting; it does not let the tile imitate any named tile.

Example

A Gee Joon tile with a three-point tile can be counted as six plus three, making nine, instead of three plus three, making six.

Values

Gee Joon beside every point value

When the two Gee Joon tiles are split up, each one counts as three or six. This table shows which choice wins beside a tile of each pip total.

One Gee Joon tile beside a tile of each point value (no pair, no Wong, Gong or High Nine). Only the final digit counts.

House way

When a house way splits Gee Joon

Parkwest Casino 580’s 2025 chart splits Gee Joon only with 12-, 11- or 10-dot tiles. Star’s Casino’s approved rules split it when the third tile has six spots and the fourth has four, five or six. Other tables can differ, so ask for the posted house way. Our house-way comparison sets the published charts side by side.

Names

Gee Joon vs Pai Gow

Gee Joon is not a separate game in any of the rulebooks we use. It is the name of the supreme pair inside Pai Gow Tiles: the 1–2 and the 2–4. Pai Gow Poker is a different, card-based game. The full comparison covers all three names.
