How the calculator reads a hand
Four tiles can only be split three ways: AB/CD, AC/BD and AD/BC. For each split the calculator scores both two-tile hands with the standard ranking and puts the stronger one high, so no split is a foul.
- House-way guide pick marks a split whose low hand and high hand are both at least as strong as in every other split. Our house-way guide takes that obvious best play first. With two pairs, it keeps one pair in each hand.
- Equal marks splits that score exactly the same in both hands, tie-break included.
- When no split wins on both hands, the calculator says so and marks the split with the strongest low hand, the same study match the practice trainer uses.

What it does not decide
One split is at least as strong in both hands in about 33% of deals. In the rest, the right setting depends on the house way posted at your table, and published charts disagree. See the house-way comparison. The calculator does not estimate your chance of beating the banker and does not include commissions.
